I’m talking all white, mostly rural areas that the people who live there


Consider “real America.” Not uncommon for people to believe you need to be Christian to be a “real American” or even to occur to them that a public official could be sworn in on anything other than a Bible. That includes some parts of California and New York, btw. It’s part of our cultural divide and having people out in those isolated areas drawn to propaganda networks like Fox doesn’t help. I’d venture to say it’s more troublesome than having Prius driving yuppies dialed into NPR and Maddow — both poison the brain but at least the latter experiences some level of diversity.
