I DID say that Trump's policies are a "mild" form of ethnic cleansing. Since there is no "forcible relocation", I clarified that it is more of maintaining ethnic purity. This shares a main goal of ethnic cleansing, which is a homogeneous society. I stand by those statements.

You state "Trump's efforts are not on their face an attempt to reduce ethnic diversity..." The wall and his statements about Hispanics highlight his attempts against Hispanics. His first Muslim band CLEARLY had an exception for minority religions in Muslim countries, which therefore singled out Islam. Indonesia is irrelevant. Reducing the Muslims from the banned countries would reduce the ratio of Muslim immigrants. You keep bringing in issues where it is not complete, but you can't dispute that he is working in that direction. His other statements about blacks and neo-nazis show other tendencies, though not technically policy.

My suspicion is that you are projecting your own sense of fairness (which is why I respect you) onto Trump and his followers. That is admirable, but it is faulty. When Trump proposes policies that will slow ethnic diversity, I'm not going to pretend it is something else. He has been given too many chances to prove it otherwise, but he keeps going down that path. I am done pretending that bigots are not bigots.

Fortunately, I do have faith in our country to withstand this assault. I also have faith in the younger generation. They are better, on average than my generation in terms of tolerance.
