Yes, I am with you, hegemonic entities controlling "the truth" has always

been a scary proposition. Even more so if it's the government obviously.

As to the hate radio example you gave, remember liberals created "Air America" which failed miserably. That's very likely because nobody loves crazy radio quite like old freaked out folks in their cars or kitchens. Libs are too glued to NPR wanting to impress at cocktail parties with their knowledge of important things like African birthing rituals. :)

Interesting article I'll link for you that I just saw linked last night from last year which tries to explain how the GOP and conservative movement has gotten to where it is with Trump based on the information bubble (written by a liberal I'm pretty sure think I remember him from the old Gawker site) you may disagree with, nevertheless, still an interesting read.
