Looks like this case is pretty rare


If Russia is confirmed to be behind the attack, it would be the first known case of the Kremlin trying to kill an agent after a spy swap. It could also be the first time that Moscow has harmed the child of a target since the son of Leon Trotsky was murdered in 1937 under Stalin’s great purge.

Also, the guy's wife and son's death from years ago are now being looked into. That is some crazy stuff. So yeah, if Gates or Manafort or anyone else is thinking about talking about Russia, this might cause them to think again. They might decide to rot in jail versus having their families murdered.

I realize that this guy was a spy, so it's much high stakes as he knew a lot more than anyone who's not a trained Russian spy, but I don't think you can discount anything as far as retaliation from Russia.
