Somebody probably should have clued the Cville city council in to that.
Of course, the people who will do that (bothering to vote more than once) are the ones feeling like they're in a losing battle, so it automatically favors those who are fighting uphill to keep the old names. Not to mention the pranksters who will of course write in the name(s) you said are disqualified up front, just to prank.
So who's bright idea was it to use an online poll? The second they decided to do that, posts like this one from Palmyra became inevitable. It's a crapshoot at best that this is actually representative of the majority viewpoint in C-ville. Especially when you consider what happened last August. How surprising that people who staged that awful weekend might be motivated to disrupt an online poll? Now, they're stuck with this little PR issue.
What idiots.
