I think we can boil it down to the rule of law vs the rule of one man.

Up until now the capability of the FBI and the Department of Justice to conduct a fair investigation has never been at issue. The notion of a "Deep State" of a cabal of rogue intelligence and/or justice officials is new as of the Trump era. The idea of the FBI and the Department of Justice as political organizations is new to the Trump era as well.

The common denominator is Trump and his band of political sycophants and cultish fans.

That a prosecutor or agent is a Democrat or a Republican is irrelevant, unless you are one of the aforementioned people. To the extent that we have to emphasize that Mueller is a Republican in order to lend credibility is evidence that the Trumpeltons have succeeded at least to muddy the waters and politicize our criminal justice system. We shouldn't let them get away with that.
