Very kind of you to credit public sector unions with all the Dems' wins

It's true that it would be suicidal for government employee unions to vote for a party that loathes most every part of government and has a special loathing for unions and workers (outside of Wall St. and corporate execs, of course). But it's also true that about 5% of all workers are in public sector unions--meaning an even smaller percentage of the voting age population since students, retirees, and the unemployed/underemployed aren't in unions of any kind.

Even within public sector unions, we don't push for overstaffing of programs. We do think that, for example, CYFD (or whatever your state calls its agency that investigates child abuse) should have enough staff to make sure that kids don't fall through the cracks. Or that we have enough corrections officers to ensure safety in prisons (big mouth Tom K would get eaten alive if s/he had to do one of our members' jobs for a day, much less a career). Or that we provide clean water when you shower and pour water on your toothbrush or make dinner. Or that we safely treat and dispose of your family's pee and poop. Or that we have roads that enable the entire private sector economy to thrive...the list is much longer, but the disdain for core government services that loons like reb and far too much of today's GOP exhibit shows just how unserious the GOP is about governing or quality of life or public safety or health or nearly any important part of our civilization.

I'll gladly stack up the work that public sector workers do against whatever bullshit job reb does (if any) for a living and then have a discussion about hoo is "productive" in our society.

Oh, and it was taxpayer investment in science and technology that invented the internet that y'all are bashing government on, so you're welcome for those workers and investments, too.
