Let's see in exchange for almost tripling the number of DACA kids, and giving them a path to citizenship not offered by DACA, you compromise on a wall that was the very first promise made by the guy that won the election in part on that promise. As well as some cleaning up of the legal immigration system and clearing out the backlog problems already there (I guess some would call that "untenable bells and whistles").

Nooooo! That's "amnesty"! Nooooo! That's a "stupid" boondoggle! Two different sides of the same coin.

This is why I think keeping this issue alive may not be wise for Dems. I think most reasonable people, not blinded by partisanship, will look at that compromise and think "that's a pretty fair deal, but the Dems killed it." Voters want things to get done. The lack of doing so the last 16 yrs is a big part of why we got Trump IMO.

And just TBC, I have no issue with using drones, fencing, more patrols, etc. in place for the wall where that's found to be more realistic and cost efficient. That's the end result I expected all along as surely someone would think "hmmm, we don't need an actual wall there where nobody would ever dare try and cross anyway." I also agree we need to address the millions more illegals already here, including a path to citizenship (not unlike what's offered to DACA kids - you get to stay while you're put at the back of the line as of today), and allowing them to work legally while they wait to "come out of the shadows" (and an actual working everify system rather than the joke we have now). But that's an entirely different step, so how about we go ahead with this easier step first?
