Entirely expected imo -- all supply chains are obviously very different, but I think it is safe to say that so many items today have relatively tight supply chains -- whether product is being used as an input for a further manufactured item here or a final item to be consumed. Uncertainty like this breeds panic in various degrees -- simply not knowing how to forecast future cost and inventory and regardless of how one tries to guess -- ultimately assuming things are more likely to cost more in the future, so a natural tendency to put pressure all the way through supply chains right now. This is why the comments of "surprise" by Ross and others are so frighteningly ignorant. I have no doubt that he is a smart enough guy in his particular area, but to be so blind how many if not most supply chains across a wide swath of items are likely to react -- not only stupid but you have to be almost willfully deaf because this is being preached so hard by those on the front lines.
