(i) a temporary distraction, soon to be voted out of office or impeached or about to keel over from eating too much grease, and not worth the effort
(ii) a morally repugnant gasbag completely unqualified to hold his office
(iii) an emerging threat to a functioning democracy, aided and abetted by GOPers willing to sacrifice those liberties they hold dear (well, except for the 2nd amendment) in exchange for tax cuts and the freedom to abuse employees and fellow citizens without fear of government action.
(iv) right now, an autocrat looking for every chance to bend and break the institutions of government, including the Constitutionally mandated ones, to implement a belligerent, racist agenda

I see the arguments for and against all four. If you are a person who believes in (iii) or (iv), and you cared deeply about our country, why would you not go after Trump in the way that some have?

As a country, we have become civically irresponsible, buried in the daily grind of our lives, worried about whats in it for us, distracted by our phones and TV shows and the internet and memes and social media kerfluffles, all too willing to do nothing even in the face of rank injustice. So you have friends who do something by trying to point out Trump's complete unfitness for office. So what?
