for some people. We have older friends who have a son who suffers from schizophrenia. They are in their 80's with their own health problems. He recently went off the rail, and wouldn't let them enter the condo that they have provided for him for years. It apparently was precipitated by his girlfriend moving away, and he would only receive food through a cracked door. He attacked the father, and the parents had to get police intervention, and he was placed in a short term treatment facility, but was back on the streets. During this period, they parents exhausted themselves cleaning out the garbage from the condo, which they've decided to sell after he threatened to kill them. Currently, they are paying for a motel room somewhere in town, as there is no real help available in the way of a permanent care facility.

I've seen him around town and spoken to him while he was medicated, and he would seem normal to most folks. I'm sure he could purchase a weapon at Walmart, if he chose to, and I find that scary.
