Ed Gillespie is an entirely sane person

...who wasn't enough of a nutbag to entice the Trumpletons to show up and vote for him. Corey Stewart, of course, is exactly the opposite.

I don't think it's a problem with the VA GOP as much as it's a problem with the GOP generally. Virginia is just a state where the demographics are such that a Republican candidate has to be able to bring out both wings of the party in order to secure enough votes to win. At least in a non-presidential election they do.
