strengthening democracy lies mostly with those who recognize at some level the threats to representative government, and do nothing. That apathy can only be changed to awareness and action by constantly calling out authoritarianism for what it is, not a threat but THE threat to our experiment in self government. THAT is why respect for our institutions/principles like the free press, the rule of law, our system of checks and balances is so critical and not to be taken for granted.

As for the authoritarians among us, they are a lost cause. They don't read, so awareness is of no interest to them. A book like this would be lost on them.
