kids as there really is not excusing that -- but perhaps parents and schools should think about these things before they send their kids to a political rally in DC decked out in Trumpanzee uniforms that -- I'm sorry -- millions of Americans RIGHTFULLY see as symbols of white supremacy (go look up pictures of the recent white supremacist demonstrations and you'll see people in MAGA hats)? There is a degree of common sense and sound parenting/school administration here. And if you send your kids out to a public demonstration in controversial, politically charged attire (and then allow them to act the way that they did when someone confronts them and they're all clearly on camera), there may be some blowback. So maybe, just maybe, USE SOME FUCKING JUDGMENT and don't put your kids in that situation? And even better, if some kind of altercation ensues, step in and get the kids the hell out of there if you're one of the chaperones. Don't egg them on like the dumb redneck morons who were in charge of this group did, move them along.
