Many dems support Nancy's pushback against the bully. But her unwillingness to even come to the table until now has ensured the govt stays closed. That doesn't excuse Trump for closing it. But Nancy is helping ensure that the govt stays closed with this approach - which causes millions of Americans to suffer, many not knowing how they'll pay for shelter and their next meal. These people are paying the price (along with all those who can't access services they rely on), and they are not the bullies.

That's the perhaps weak analogy to blowing up the school, killing innocent people, to push back against the bullies.

Point being, Nancy IMO can be a statesman (person?) by making a tough offer instead of being completely inflexible in order to allay this innocent suffering. I think played right she could extract severe concessions from Trump, wounding him with his base even as he tries to scream "I got the wall"!, create a campaign issue by literally laughing at the wall he got vs the one Mexico was supposed to pay for, and get govt back to work and get credit for it while cementing the blame for the shutdown with Trump.

That would be pushing back against the bully by shooting at the bully, not at a bunch of innocent students minding their own business (my analogy).
