I really disagree. NYC will be fine, but this is huge opportunity lost.

Who's the crony? Bezos is in bed with Cuomo or deBlasio? He isn't anyone's crony, and investing in the future of an economy in an effort to keep it vibrant and current is not "crony capitalism".

NY is making a mistake, all the more because unlike Seattle, it would be very unlikely ever to be so dependent on Amazon's fortunes as to be too tied to it (Seattle has Boeing and Microsoft, but NY at its core would remain a financial hub). It would have been a boon to an outer borough and to the city's and state's system of higher education. It is definitely our loss.

And since they are not launching a search for an alternative location, probably NOVA's gain.
