That is nonsense. Tolerating other beliefs is not synonymous with legitimizing or being agnostic towards it. Combat in the world of free speech is essential (to include ignoring or shouting down).

Illiberalism is about process. I think this topic is still being developed, and I am doing yard work right now so I am not going to try to flesh out a theory on this message board. I think the Atlantic article does. I also recommend listening to “The Daily” podcasts from The NY Times that erred last week about illiberalism in Europe.
