Gillebrand's style is illiberal there because she's not arguing using


reason, just declaring the debate over and name-calling opponents. Intersectionalism and Identity politics (both of the left and right) tend illiberal because they reject the primacy of the individual. Expanding the Supreme Court could be an illiberal type of move. "Cancel", "shut it down", "believe the victim unequivocally" are examples in culture. The concept of "hate speech" is a push in an illiberal direction. People can and do support those things, maybe they are even justified in doing it, but it's not liberal. Only a hack would attempt to ascribe the phenomenon to just one side in the US.
