that doesn't recognize the dynamic of international agreements -- whether on trade, settling conflict, anything. At their heart they are all voluntary agreements -- perhaps that create obligations that that can lead to some kind of retaliatory action if violated, but still voluntary and doing nothing that can take away a nation's ultimate sovereignty. However, they work (historically) because most countries recognize the key principles that help move lift society forward in positive ways and understand the importance of integrity in agreements and how to work within the framework of such agreements to solve conflict.

It doesn't mean every international agreement is the right one to enter, but unilaterally throwing them in the trash has nothing whatsoever to do with some light bulb going off or "brilliant negotiating" that suddenly recognizes some new concept about their structure.
