I don't agree with that. I think interest waned when the US manned space


program became a lame, and dangerous, trucking expedition to nowhere. People are still fascinated by the robotic successes and wowed the by the pictures and data coming back. I will grant you that the development of commercial possibilities will really make it take off. Still that requires investment and it requires political will and leadership that we don't have. Instead a lot of us are retreating back to our tribal animosities and petty religious concerns. Scientific leadership will be needed again soon in space and here on earth with the environment. Will the US be the leader or someone else, such as China?
