the situation in Syria correctly. In a nutshell (highly oversimplified for sure- the situation is clearly very complicated), sounds like:

1 we pulled out more quickly than we hoped. we didn't take any ISIS prisoners with us (I think the original plan was to hold on to 60 of the most important assets). these are people our Kurdish allies had captured, been holding

2 Turkish forces move in to Northern Syria. Local militias loyal to the Turks have been accused of terrible acts of violence towards certain Kurds. time will tell what is actually happening on the ground

3 Kurdish leaders worried about what will happen with Turkey, seek the support of the Syrian government run by Bashar al-Assad. they agree to get involved

4 Russians have stepped in to void we left and now patrol the areas between Turkish and Syrian forces

5 Nobody seems to know what is happening with ISIS captives and their families

6 high-ranking administration and defense department officials all seem to agree that the entire situation is nothing short of a disaster on several fronts

Assuming those assertions are true, can someone tell me how any of this is good for us? Has Donald Trump sent Jared Kushner in to restore order? Inquiry not withstanding, this is one more example of why the country simply cannot afford to re-elect this person in 2020. While we're at it, we should start holding his enablers responsible as well. This is well beyond partisan now (for any thinking American). yet the Grand Old Party has doubled down on this situation.
