for the determination to be made, not for the airing to occur. I think it is not going to be the venue for the determination at all; the election will be, because the senate will acquit.

Which makes the impeachment a glorified, highly politicized censure. Congress is allowed to investigate things, and call witnesses, and hold hearings, without a formal impeachment proceeding. I think that's where Pelosi wanted to go with it before the moderate freshmen made the decision for her to make this a formal impeachment inquiry. And I bet if you asked her privately, she'd agree with me about the risks.

If Trump is re-elected, this will have been 100% folly, and will have achieved the exact opposite of holding the president to account. So, fingers crossed.
