philosophies. I don't believe the repub party is now irretrievably populist-nationalist-autocratic. I believe this current admin is, it has amazing appeal mainly because of Trump's talent as a showman and a demagogue, and no repub in his or her right mind will take him on, unless they are willing to walk away from elected office. Trumpistan rules the repub primary base, maybe in every state. If he loses in 2020? The party could back away from that as fast or faster than it did from neoconservatism. It's current philosophy is practically the opposite of that.

And by no means are the dems all in on that "woke" bullshit. I that were true, Biden would be one of the dropouts by now, with his history of gaffs, opposition to bussing, flirtations with #MeToo, support for mandatory sentencing, and so on. Yet he's not - and not because he's showing such great game out there. He's lost a few steps. But the party overall is thinking in practical terms far more than the current narratives want us to believe when it tries to make the two parties out to be inflexible monoliths. Even the repubs are not like that IMO, but it needs to get out from under Trump's shadow. We need to help them with that. As the top priority in the next election.
