Nothing wrong with cheering for the home team. Nothing wrong with having


national pride or being patriotic.

Trumpism is a zero sum form of populist nationalism that looks for demons and scapegoats everywhere. It's a very negative viewpoint advanced by a demagogue who then of course holds himself out as the savior from all these imaginary threats. It presents problems that don't exist and is at its core unpatriotic, and wholly Trumpist. A patriot in 2016 would think of the US as great, not some struggling has-been that needed to be made great again. The message serves Trump, not America.
