The guy really was revered in Iran. And among Shiites generally.
They credit Soleimani with creating a sort of Shiite foreign legion. And as the primary force against ISIS, which they hate as much as we do, if not more. The Grand.pooba called him a living martyr. He appealed to all Iranian political factions. The govt was under duress from economic protests, which for the time being, will probably give way to patriotic fervor. The Iranian govt wants to survive, and not responding could also be a threat to their legitimacy in their people's eyes.
So everyone seems to agree they'll have to do something, but that they really don't want full on war. Time will tell how they walk that line. I imagine many wannabe terrorists would like to honor this guy with a spectacular attack ala 9/11, although success with those things is extremely rare. Could be years from now when some attack is claimed as a tribute to Quenton Quds.
