I would suggest anybody who thinks that needs to spend about a half day in
General District Court, a half day in Circuit Court, and a couple hours that evening at a Board of Supervisors meeting.
You'd realize you were in the south, toot fucking sweet. Just by the kind of cases you's be watching, and the speech patterns and accents of the protagonists...
Without even hitting the Tractor Supply (multiple locations) or Rankin's Hardware in Warrenton.
Shoot, the despicable quality of the Mexican food, at El Agave (Warrenton or Frogtown) ought to clue you in, ditto the "New York Style" pizza at Spitony's.
But a beer or two at Fat's in the "Old Shopping Center" (where two cops got charged with assault after a retirement party for a third cop, last year, would remove all doubt. (Acquitted of all charges when the female alleged victim confirmed "We was all drinkin'.....It was a accident." The mechanism of the injury appears to have been a botched "fast draw" contest initiated by a challenge by said alleged victim, who somehow got her nose broken as she and one of the cops attempted simultaneous quick draws (with the cops' service revolvers, if I understand correctly, and I have a pretty reliable source.) But the Town Manager was fired for trying to cover the whole thing up....
But I digress. At Fat's, If you don't speak Piedmont Redneck, you would need a translator.
Now Loudoun, even western Loudoun, I'll grant you.
