Yes, immunity is a spectrum ranging from viruses like varicella for which the body develops lifetime immunity, to the flu where immunity is more fleeting, but studies still show some level of immunity lasting for many years with strains of flu. But there are no known diseases where immunity amnesia occurs within weeks or months.

So yes, based on everything we know from every virus known to man, antibodies matter. We don’t know the full extent of how much protection they will provide against future infections of Covid or for how long, but nothing in the history of viruses suggests anyone with a normally functioning immune system would be vulnerable to reinfection just weeks or months after recovering
