Right. But what's the ratio of total police encounters to fatal


police encounters? Everything I've read says the ratio of fatal police encounters to total police encounters doesn't vary by race, but blacks are far more likely to have police encounters, so they have disproportionate fatal encounters. The disproportionate encounters may be partially due to racial profiling, but some of it is also socioeconomic. Crime rates are highly correlated with poverty, and blacks are far more likely to be poor.

None of this is to say there's not a problem, but I think it's really important that we understand the problem so we solve the RIGHT problem.
