No statistically valid conclusions could be drawn anywhere but the political arena. If the dems win everything in Nov, which is possible, they will spend like drunken sailors, assuming no miracle cure for the bug. That might be appropriate, but it will blow your theory sky high.

The dems took the house back in 2018, and immediately created a shutdown over wall spending that would probably not have phased many of them before Trump made the word “wall” so toxic. They wouldn’t even try a compromise for the dreamers to get it done (which might have just been calling a repub bluff, but I wish they did that).

IMO, you are on shaky, and completely partisan, ground if you think either party has any claim to the high ground on this issue.
