The only difference is that the repubs are more inclined to claim the mantle of being deficit hawks, and they are full of shit with that. There is no valid evidence to support your view that a dem pres and repub congress = better chance of balanced budget. There are just a tiny handful of examples, but given the impacts of the times, like the explosive, unexpected internet driven growth of the ‘90s, it is the mother of all examples of correlation not equaling causation.
