I didn’t do either of the first two things ... as far as how people got it
Despite lockdowns, the answer is 1) we weren’t totally locked down Wuhan style (nor should we have been) 2) the virus spread before we locked down (see: NYC) 3) We didn’t start wearing masks until it was too late, and didn’t know enough about a new virus to know how to slow the spread.
Nobody is blameless here. The idiots who encouraged people to “come to Chinatown” and not be afraid of a virus in China were wrong, the people who said masks don’t work were wrong, the people who didn’t take action early enough at the federal, state and local level ... they were all wrong. Nobody is perfect.
None of that means masks don’t work. The way science works is your conclusions get better with more data. That’s not indicative of any kind of conspiracy or political hit job on Trump. He’s trying to cast his incompetence as a hitjob against him personally and the idiots that believe anything he says are lapping it up.
I’m not going to pretend that he hasn’t been unfairly treated by the press at times - he obviously has been held to a far different standard than our most recent other President - but he brings a lot of that on himself as well, and it has nothing to do with the issue of masks.
