I wasn't trying to assume anything with your viewpoint of Christianity
but rather was trying to understand the theoretical "good point" that AOC is trying to make about white supremacy with his statue. Your post suggesting that it is in fact a decent point she is making talks mostly about colonization and Christian missionizing -- regardless of anything really specifically related to Damian and how/why he seems to be somebody who is extremely admired in Hawaiian history. I didn't mean to assume anything - sorry, but that is really all I had to go on for why it seems like a good point. I do completely get that issue including how it has its own history in Hawaii -- I just think it is real stretch in this context to find the type of issue she does.
I think it also does matter that all Capitol statues (each state chose two) were chosen (at least I think) 100% at the discretion of the states. Now, maybe there is some history behind this one that is suspect, but I don't think AOC is even suggesting that herself. It just seems to offend her as some real example of our white supremacist culture that it was chosen at all and by any means. It isn't the end of civilization, but it does agitate me -- what can I say.
