Immunity gained from infection seems to wane greatly over 4 weeks, but

studies on tested vaccines are showing higher immune response than that gained form infection at 4 weeks. Hopefully, the level can be ramped up to the point that effective immunity is retained. Flu requires seasonal vaccination due to mutation, you are actually vaccinating against different strains of the virus each season. There are other vaccines that wane over time, but typically the timeline is extensive on the order of 5-10 years. I don't know of a vaccination that requires seasonal readministration without the element of rapid mutation.
