If the fox hadn't stopped to a take a shit, he'd have caught the rabbit.
I'm doing the right thing and you are. So what? I went into a country store yesterday, two people working, no masks but a plexiglass partition at the register. 3 customers, no masks besides me. I've been in stores where people were told to wear masks or cover their nose as well as their mouth. "I'm not fucking doing that" is the general reply.
You might as well look for a unicorn as to think that what you're asking for is going to ever happen. The only solution is a cure/vaccine/it goes away. I evoke Darwinism. You evoke leprechauns and the Loch Ness monster. And it's not just a product of Trumplandia and stupid, fat, redneck conservatives, which I'm sure you'd love to believe or do. France and Germany were on the decline and I had many liberals telling me, "look at what Germany has done and France!". Don't hear that right now. Human nature is a bitch.
"And any idea of oh let’s just get this over with comes with a huge price tag" - I agree with you but it is what it is. Or if you prefer I could say, at this point, what difference does it make? It's just what you say would change a lot, is not going to happen, ever. And I'm not going to preoccupy myself with that fantasy. We need science to win the day. If we count on our own people to sort it out, well, you know.
In fact, you could give every person on the planet an N95 mask and you'd still be talking about the same percentages of folks doing the right thing.
