I don’t think it is unlikely as you think.

Let’s look at Michigan.

They have a bipartisan group of 4 people (2 Rs and 2 Ds) certify the election results.

The wife of one of the Rs is a witness in the Detroit voter fraud suit trying to throw out votes.

If the other R also goes crazy, then you don’t have a certified vote in Michigan.

I am sure the R legislature will step in and appoint electors (which the US House will likely ignore).

This is a dangerous situation and we shouldn’t treat it as a joke
