To be very careful not to let emotion rule over reason. Our country is right now a little like 2 countries veering away from each other at an increasing pace. We have to take a good, long, hard look at what we’re trying to achieve once this nightmare of a transition is finally behind us.

Emotionally, a lot of us will want to strike back. We want people to pay for this national disgrace. And more - a lot of us will want to uncover all the dark episodes of the Trump years. We’ll want to create blacklists of Trumpie collaborators. Already seen calls for that. We’ll want to keep prosecutors busy.

Shitcan the blacklists, right away. Those calls come from the extreme left, most notably from AOC, that scion of the woke folk. Ignore that - reversing the wedging of America is not her goal. Prosecutions are tougher - if laws are broken, laws are broken. While I’d never suggest ignoring that, nobody should be excited about it. Once we start prosecuting political adversaries, we appear ever more like tinpot dictatorships parading as democracies, which is the way Trump is making us look now. We should not look with excitement towards compounding that.

We can’t ignore violations of the law. But understand, prosecuting Trumpies during a Biden Admin in many ways advances the cause of Trumpism, by increasing the rate at which our two factions diverge and sowing more chaos and division.
