The reforms were "nice", but apparently not much in the way of deterrents

How many times has it been posited throughout this nightmare of a presidency that Trump may pardon himself or that he'd step down in the last hour so that Pence could pardon him instead, because prosecuting a sitting president is "impossible", based entirely on a "memo".

How many times has it also been pointed out that these pardon's don't apply to state crimes?

Why is it okay for state's to pursue a former president for state crimes, but not for the federal government to pursue a former president for federal crimes?

If presidents aren't subject to suffering the same consequences for their "crimes" as non-presidents or even after becoming non-presidents, why should it surprise us that some may simply operate with impunity knowing and even being actively advised of that by legions of attorneys, including even the DOJ and AG themselves.
