On its own merits. Some may be guilty of no more that trespassing and should only be fined. Somebody who walked off with the Speaker of the House’s laptop? Whatever her plans, that probably needs very real jail time. Depending on what caused her to back away from her plan to sell, maybe quite a few years. If she’d sold it, it could have been life in prison.

This assumes that she is found guilty. Currently, she is under suspicion, but not guilty of anything.
