In his prime, Tiger Woods was winning tournaments at a higher percentage
than Nicklaus, and well on track to eclipse number of majors won. Had his wife not taken a golf club to him resulting in the car accident, he might be ahead of Nicklaus at this point. With DeChambeau and Koepler playing well, Woods will have to be on when they aren't to win any more majors, but when he's healthy, he's still got as good a shot as anyone else in the field.
Nicklaus was 46 when he won his last major, Tiger Woods is 45 now, and just had his 5th back surgery, so, 18 probably out of reach, but he still as a decent argument for being #1.
