Yeah, see I think the acting, the writing, the production values, are all


pretty much superior now. That doesn't mean there isn't a fair amount of dreck out there right now. But remember crappy shows like My Mother the Car, Mr. Terrific, Queen for a Day? The list is endless, particularly the variety shows. Most were awful with the occasional ground breakers like Laugh-In. There were a few that tackled contemporary issues, notably for me, Star Trek and Rocky and Bullwinkle, which was considered quite subversive and censored quite frequently.

But shows now, like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, the rebooted Battlestar Galactica, The Wire, many made without commercial interruption, are more real and far more interesting. Movies are a little different; some excellent ones have been made over the years, many not dated, but they were willing to take more risks than television. I will agree about one thing, I'm generally done with the super hero genre of flicks. Some are ok, but they are mostly popcorn. I like ones that are thoughtful and dialogue heavy that surprise me.
