I think you lost the window for this thinking when the second wave started

Remember the original projections for deaths to hit around 200k? The ones that projected that the pandemic would run its course by the summer? The ones that were lampooned for being overly pessimistic? Well those projections turned out to be far too optimistic largely because we were in way too big a rush to "reopen the economy".

I don't think you can simply wave off the slaughter of 0.1% of the population as an acceptable loss. Why have a government?
