I think the same logic applies, though, to a third party in terms of potentially damaging R's. A true third party could create a Perot-like effect not only at the Presidential level, but also at the legislative level. They could probably find a good enough candidate to be meaningful. Regardless, they'd only need 5%-10% of the vote to wreck the R's chances.

I truly think a large swath of the country is ready for a third-party, and I've never said that before. It would probably take someone with Trump's (or Perot's) resources to make it viable, so he could do it. Maybe even get Kanye involved! LOL!

With that said, I think Trump's and his supporters best bet is to try to take over the R party completely, including its leadership and candidate recruitment efforts, rather than going third-party. Taking over the R party could lead to wins for their policies, whereas a third party would likely just play a spoiler role and elect Dems.
