Sure. There's clearly a trump angle to the diminishing of the stats
hammering, but Trump consistently downplayed Covid, encouraged irresponsible behavior, mocked mask usage, etc. His entire "leadership" on Covid was a disaster, so it makes sense that the negative results of his horrible leadership was a focus. Dave Leito had a better record in the '06-'07 and '07-08 years than Bennett had in his first year. But there was probably less stats hammering on our poor on court performance in Bennett's first year because a) we were giving the new guy a chance, and b) he wasn't a total lunatic disaster like his predecessor.
There's also a real results angle to it. I'm not even willing to assign credit to Biden, but cases are down nearly 75% and deaths are down over 40% in the last month. That's really good news. People tend to not focus as much on bad news when the bad news gets significantly better.
