Excellent examples of playing the victimhood. Let's see if I can't briefly
address some of them:
Environmentalism. Funny, I just saw an article last week talking about how we have the cleanest air and water we've seen in many decades. But ignore reality, if you don't sign on to the Dem plan, spotted owls will all die, salmon won't spawn, and the Cuyahoga river will be in flames again by sundown. All those poor victims if we don't sign on.
Equal rights under the law. That requires victimhood just to be credible. It implies certain victims aren't treated equally under the law. Can you point us to all those laws that treat you differently based on your race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.? Unequal outcomes don't prove unequal treatment (not saying it doesn't ever happen in specific cases).
Greater progressivity in the tax code. That is the essence of playing the victimhood card. It's envy populist politics of the haves vs the have nots in its oldest form. You poor little victims, we won't make sure you have equal opportunity, because then you'll have to be accountable for your own choices and actions, we'll just take from those "evil" rich folks to give you goodies to make your life better. After all, you're just the victim here.
Protection of voting rights. Again, more victimhood required in order for it to be credible. Never mind that you never see the parade of all those legal voters that weren't able to exercise their voting rights. Never mind poll taxes were made unconstitutional many decades ago. Never mind that you can't point to a single law that makes a different qualifier based on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. If you want to point to long lines, I've long said that's inexcusable, so demand the localities and states fix that. No argument. That's valid criticism and victimhood. By precinct. And doesn't require steps to make voter fraud easier to fix them. But if you resist our moves to make voter fraud easier, you just don't "care" about all those fictitious victims!
Min Wage. See above on tax progressivity. Then add the actual damages from job losses, higher prices, etc. to your actual victimhood list. Min Wage was never intended to be a living wage. Min wage is not a cap on what wage can and will be paid. And if you're still working for Min Wage years and even decades later, it's not because you're a victim, it's because you didn't ever try or earn anything above an entry level position. But hey, let's let all the relatively unaffected rich folks tell themselves how good they are for "caring" and "doing something" for all the "victims".
