Maybe it's not just personal bias that shapes our news...
Maybe I'm off, and perhaps there's always been this presence of intimidation, but it seems there's been a surge in stories recently (last few years) of journalists, politicians, etc. coming out against pressure, threats and intimidation.
I, like many right of center, assumed the press had a deep bias in its efforts to protect Cuomo (and even give him an Emmy...). But maybe that's not it. We've seen the last few weeks stories from Ron Kim, Pehmen, and others about the outright intimidation. We've heard tales from Bari Weiss and others. And, of course, the pressure/threats that Trump placed on Fox and Republican politicians.
It's a sad state of affairs that this may have a heavy impact on how/when the news gets reported and the shaping of our policies. My hope would be that this is where social media could consolidate those threatened voices to unite and strengthen, but half the time, social media is the problem, not the solution.
Oh well, the sun is out finally, I should be more cheery :)
