He said:

“After the November election last year, I knew, like so many of you, that significant reforms to our state elections were needed” .

At the signing ceremony, Governor Kemp said that the bill would make for "secure elections".

These statements about the necessity of this law are in direct conflict with what Georgia election officials indicated numerous times. In fact, the election was called the cleanest and most secure in memory. To further emphasize the efficacy of this election, various Court rulings also indicated that any claims about the insecurity of the election were groundless.

So, what were the reasons for a law that found no actual shortcomings to reform or crimes to rectify?
