happen to be in the metro Atlanta area. Two of those are the third and fourth most populous counties in the state, DeKalb and Clayton, both at about 750k people. DeKalb has about 550k registered voters so it is limited to no more than 6 drop boxes depending on how many of those are considered “active” registered voters as required by the new law. Clayton has just under 200k registered voters so it gets no more than 2 drop boxes. Meanwhile the 134 counties with populations of under 100k, the vast majority of them majority white, and which by definition have significantly less than 100k registered voters, all get 1 box. Unlike your hypotheticals these are facts. And if the law describes how boxes are to be allocated for the excess voters over the highest even hundred thousand, I can’t find it, so plenty of wiggle room for the Rs in the legislature there. The law is crap. It was passed to tilt the table to the Rs, plain and simple. The “problems” it purports to solve are nonexistent.
