Look at the anti-Christianist going all churchy on us! :-)
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you. I actually found myself in a similar situation here early on right after George Floyd. They would block the main drag running by my neighborhood. But in this sleepy town they were totally harmless, just had their signs, and lasted only a week at most. I was just stopped at the light when they started coming back across the road and I realized what they were doing. Swerved around them in the turn lane and went on my merry way. Others behind me got stuck, and they were just annoyed.
I would've just turned around in this scenario too. But hoo knows what's going through the old man's mind once someone jumps on his hood and others surround him. And you guys have had your share of such incidents that didn't end so well for the folks in the car. I don't blame him one bit for just getting the hell out of there.
None of this excuses them doing it in the first place, nor the police (or more likely higher ups) for not arresting them for doing so. I have zero sympathy if this is what happens to them.
