Ok, so feel free to make that argument instead of trotting out some

Nonsensical grievance that has nothing to do with anything. That’s all I rebutted.

I agree that 74 million Trump voters are not in the “cult”. To get a better approximation of who demands fealty to a person, and not to any particular set of ideas, I think you’d look at repub primary turnout, and for obvious reasons 2020 was not a good year to gauge that. Of my core group of 4 Trump voting buddies, I’d say one is a completely committed member of the cult, about who I only half jokingly checked up on during the Jan 6 events to make sure he was not there (he wasn’t); his brother, who is a less committed cult member; and then the other 2 who voted for Trump (because we only have two options) but immediately rejected the vote fraud fantasies and I’d never have thought of as being in a cult.

But it is cow-towing to that portion of the 74 mil who do demand fealty to a person above all other things, that is driving the repub caucus to sack a committed philosophical conservative in favor of a member with a demonstrated record against many conservative concepts, including his signature legislation, but who will bow to the will of Trump, and by extension, his cult.

But as a thread below celebrates, in Virginia, there was pushback against the cult at the state convention. That seems to be a small positive step (if one opposes cults) during a week with the ominous step of sacking Cheney for Stefanik.
