Good comments...

...I think you mischaracterize Trump supporters' "disdain for the average billionaire", though. First, Trump himself is a billionaire, and they definitionally don't disdain him. Second, people on the right generally don't begrudge anyone else's success provided that it's earned honestly. We want people to be successful, and we want to have the chance to be successful ourselves. We hate grift, which is one reason we despise the Clintons, Bidens, etc., but private sector wealth is fine.

The disdain on the right for the leftist tech industry -- primarily social media -- is politically motivated, not financially motivated. We don't like the censorship, canceling, etc., that is all too prevalent there, not to mention their propaganda on behalf of the left.

Regarding Trump supporters' wealth, my guess is that it is comparable to Dems. Given that each party got 75M+ votes or whatever, it goes without saying that most voters in both parties are of average wealth and far outside the top 1% or even top 25%.

Further, while a ~$5,000 tax cut might mean nothing to a billionaire or boomer attorney in Chevy Chase pulling down $1M a year, it means a ton to the family of four living off $120,000 in Nebraska. They will vote for that, and they don't care if Jamie Dimon gets a bigger tax cut. Of course he's going to get a bigger tax cut -- he pays more in taxes!

On the other side of this coin, I'd argue that Dem policies are harmful to the interests of many Dem voters, yet they continue to vote Dem, so I think your argument can cut both ways.

Finally, let's face it, many people -- maybe most -- vote for emotional reasons. They just "like" or "dislike" a particular candidate or party and vote accordingly. I live in liberal LaLa land, and I can tell you that no Republican has a chance of getting elected here. Policy doesn't matter -- in fact, many don't even particularly like the Dem policies, but they absolutely hate Republicans.

My Dem friends out here are furious right now about the school closures and homeless problem, but come November, they'll pull the D lever like they always do. The R brand is just toxic regardless of the candidate or the candidate's positions. I'd imagine the same is true in rural Oklahoma regarding Dems.

In other words, voting preferences are not always logical.
